dipsomaniac Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 can anyone explain how the two cooling fans are supposed to work? why two? are they supposed to come on together? i have just let car idle on the drive, got to 'm' of 'norm' on the temperature gauge and the largest fan nearest the air filter kicked in. tried switching on air con and still only the one fan came on. is this normal or should both fans be spinning? mk2vr6 Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 both fans should kick in IIRC? try swapping the plugs over and see if the dead fan kicks in? Quote
dipsomaniac Posted October 3, 2007 Author Report Posted October 3, 2007 why didn't i think of that? hope the wires reach? Quote
sepulchrave Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 Fan motor failure is common on older Gals, can result in damaged wiring or connectors. Do a search, I believe this has been covered before. Quote
dipsomaniac Posted October 5, 2007 Author Report Posted October 5, 2007 speaking to a mechanic today who said that the fans do not necessarily come on together. has anyone got a definite answer on this? Quote
big_kev Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 I am sure that they are on seperate sensors ( or a dual sensor ) and as such they will come on independantly. Don't have the details why. Give a permanet feed to the fan and check that it works. Quote
